Touch Typing

Touch typing is typing without using the sense of sight to find the keys. Specifically, a touch typist will know their location through muscle memory. Touch typing involves placing the eight fingers in a horizontal row along the middle of the keyboard (the home row) and has them reach for other keys.

The most common other form of typing is “hunt and peck” (or two-fingered typing) which is slower than touch typing because, instead of relying on the memorized position of keys, the typist is required to find each key by sight and move fingers a greater distance.

So this is why I am a slow typer… I was pressing 0 with the blue finger, all along.

Daca tot am scris despre Otopeni, sunt cateva chestii pe care nu le inteleg:

- De ce e parcarea acoperita plina chiar daca nu sunt oameni in aeroport?

- De ce e toata laterala dreapta a ultimului nivel de parcare rezervata pentru handicapati? Chiar asa de multi vin la aeroport sa ia pe cineva?

- De ce e tot randul de vis-a-vis de laterala dreapta ocupat de taxiuri? Credeam ca Henri Coanda are o intelegere cu Fly Taxi. Ailalti ce cauta acolo? Doar ca sa ocupe locuri de parcare si sa enerveze sau sa tepuiasca pasagerii? Paznicii ce… pazesc?

WordPress acting up

Daca de ieri nu mai merg sondajele, azi imi vad toata pagina cu exceptia ultimelor 2 posturi(acesta si cel imediat de sub el) in italic. Doar pe prima pagina. Nu-mi explic de ce. Daca are cineva vreo idee…

Daca-i joi e masina de gunoi

De fiecare data cand ajung in aeroport la terminalul sosiri raman uimit. Locul seamana cu o Mecca a mirarii, unde cei care se duc acolo sa-si astepte rudele sau prietenii sunt coplesiti de impunatoarea materializare a visului lui Icar a acestora.

La aeroport nu te poti duce oricum. Trebuie sa ai o atitudine mandra si o privire semeata deoarece cei pe care ii astepti tocmai au facut un lucru nemaiintalnit. Au zburat! Si acum se intorc, teferi si nevatamati, EI, cei care vor fi adulati de familie la intruniri si reuniuni: “Ghita al meu a zburat, a fost tocmai la Budapesta. A petrecut 60 de minute intregi in aer! Povesteste-ne, Ghita”. Si toti cei prezenti il vor asculta cu admiratie pe Ghita, cel care a fost in acea masinarie zburatoare. Ghita a fost in pasarea de metal si va raspunde, atotstiutor si sigur pe el la intrebari de genul: “Si, da din aripi? Nu? `Tii, dracia dracului, unde-am ajuns, Doamne…pasari de metal care zboara fara sa dea din aripi…fantastic! Semn clar, vine Apocalipsa…”

Un articol din Evenimentul Zilei ne vorbeste despre Jessica Vartoughian, care este manichiurista vedetelor de la Hollywood. Poza de mai jos, cu cele trei personalitati este reprodusa din ziar, si nu de pe site.

Sub poza scrie “STELE. Printesa Diana, Madonna si Demi Moor sunt trei dintre clientele fidele ale Jessicai Vartoughian”.

Printesa Diana? Asta nu e profanare de morminte?

Windows 7

Microsoft offered more details yesterday on the upcoming Windows 7, according to Yahoo.

In particular, Microsoft is focused on improving the time it takes for Windows to start up and shut down. In addition to its own work, Microsoft has been working directly with computer makers to address all of the factors that affect system performance.

I think I’ve heard something similar before… oh, yeah, when Vista came out.

As far as other features, Windows 7 features support for multitouch input and a new taskbar that makes it easier to manage multiple open Windows. – the multitouch sounds very interesting.

I have also taken a screenshot from the Wikipedia article on the subject. The design looks alot like Vista.

Improv strikes back

Improv Everywhere have finished their new mission a week ago. The MP3 Experiment Tour, on its fifth installment span over four cities this year, with the help of Yahoo. The mission involves people showing up at a preset location, wearing certain colours and bringing their MP3 players along, all playing the same mp3. The video shows footage from all the cities involved. I’ve known about the guys since their first No Pants mission, and I’ve liked them since.

Last year’s MP3 Experiment Four is also worthwhile.
